One hidden trick to make your customers fall in love with your product

There’s a bit of a phenomena going around at the moment. We’re not sure people have really noticed it, but once you do it’s hard to ignore.

Let’s say you have a conversation with a friend. You mention something mundane like your vacuum cleaner isn’t great and how you need a new one.

All of a sudden you will be bombarded with adverts about that particular product. You’ll see vacuum’s all over your Facebook page, your Google search, your Amazon app. You’ll go to sleep dreaming of vacuum cleaner harassment, panicking about your phone paying attention to your every desire.

Whether you believe your phone is listening to you or not (tin foil hats at the ready), this leads us into a key phrase that you can use in your business.

It’s called retargeting, and most companies have used it in a lazy way.

For you, it is a great way to give you the best returns on your advertising budget.

Before we dive into this, there’s a couple more things to understand. Let’s go on something called a ‘Customer Journey’ (sounds fancy, we know).

Imagine you’re thinking about losing a bit of weight.

You’ve had a great summer, and drank more than you should but now you really want to do something about the extra pounds you’ve put on.

You look up loads of possible solutions. Should I diet, should I start running, should I buy a gym membership?

Finally you decide to start running, all you need now are some new trainers. You look at some sports shops to weigh up your options.

Then you decide to buy.

This is how most sales are done, most people don’t wake up and buy trainers for no reason unless they have a screw loose.

So what does this have to do with retargeting?

Well let’s imagine you sell running shoes. Convenient. When would you want your customer to see your advert?

After they buy?

Preferably, you want to be in front of your slightly heavy runner as soon as possible.

Problem solved? Not quite.

If you’re still here, then you’re one of the few people without an attention span problem.

With the rise of social media, most people suffer from this, so we need to make sure we keep the attention of our customers.

This is where retargeting comes in.

When you see the exact same advert twice, the chances of you skipping it are exponentially higher.

We’re going to do things slightly differently.

What we can do is track the people who have seen our advert already, and give them a different advert with more information, then a bit more information, then a bit more until they know everything about us before they even decide to buy.

It’s a win-win situation - your customer knows your product, how it can help, and they trust you because you’re genuinely helping them out.

For you, you’ve helped someone make their decision and made a sale.

That’s it. Quite simple when you think about it. Meet your customers early, tell them about your product, help them make the best choice.

Wondering how to go ahead and do this for your business?

Go ahead and have a look at our website. If you compete the form, we can have a chat and see if we’re a good match.

We won’t bombard you with emails, or vacuums for that matter, and we won’t pressure you with any sales tactics.

Speak soon,

Jamie
